Free · Windows
Motaware Media Player
Plays almost any video or music file, organises your library, and casts to your TV. Free, with no account, no sign-in and no license key.
Version 1.0.0 · Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit
Your music library, by album. The albums shown are examples.
Everything a player should do
Built on FFmpeg, so the files you have just play. No codec packs, no extra downloads.
Plays almost anything
MKV, MP4, WebM, AVI, MOV, MPEG-TS, MP3, FLAC, Opus, AAC and many more, including HEVC 10-bit, AV1 and VP9. Hardware decoding keeps 4K smooth and the fans quiet.
Subtitles done right
Embedded tracks and SRT, ASS and VTT files, with full ASS styling. Picks up subtitle files next to the video, and lets you shift timing and size on the fly.
Equalizer and effects
A 10-band equalizer with presets, compressor, limiter, bass boost, stereo widener and voice enhancement, plus loudness normalisation so nothing blasts.
Picture controls
Brightness, contrast, saturation, colour temperature, sharpen, denoise, deinterlace, crop and rotate. Save settings for one file or make them the default.
Your media library
Point it at your folders and browse by artist, album, genre, year, movie or TV show and season. Search as you type, rate, tag and keep playlists.
Cast to your TV
Send video and music to Chromecast, DLNA TVs and AirPlay 1 receivers on your network. Files your TV can't play are converted on the fly.
Convert and save
Turn videos into MP4, MKV or WebM and music into MP3, AAC, FLAC or Opus. Queue many files and keep watching while they convert.
Network streams
Open HTTP, HLS, RTSP, RTMP, SRT and UDP streams as easily as a file.
Fast to drive
Keyboard shortcuts for everything, frame stepping, chapters, playback speed from 0.25x to 4x, snapshots, and it picks up where you left off.
Free, and it stays out of your business
Media Player isn't part of a subscription and never asks you to sign in. It doesn't send usage data, and your library stays on your PC. It only goes online when you play a stream, cast to a TV, or click Check for Updates, which sends nothing but the version you have.
- No account, sign-in or license key
- No ads and no tracking
- Casting and receiver discovery stay on your home network
- Updates only when you ask, and you install them yourself
Good to know
Which computers does it run on?
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Mac and Linux versions aren't available yet.
Which TVs and speakers can I cast to?
Chromecast and Google TV devices, smart TVs and receivers that support DLNA, and Apple TVs that accept AirPlay 1 from everyone on the network. AirPlay 2-only speakers such as HomePod aren't supported yet.
Do I need a Motaware account?
No. Media Player is free for everyone and works without any account. It's separate from the Motaware plans.
How do updates work?
Choose Help → Check for Updates. If there's a newer version, the player shows what's new and opens the download in your browser. It never downloads or installs anything by itself.
